HeartLikeAnOcean-CoverBrant knocked and then walked into his cabin, trying to remain calm, but inside, annoyance at Catherine struggled to find its way to the surface. She was lying on the bunk reading a book.

"Catherine, what's this I hear about you keeping the boys away from the celebration?"

Catherine looked up from her reading. "I thought it best they didn't join in. It wouldn't be proper."

"Proper?" asked Brant, an eyebrow lifted in speculation. "Catherine, you are on a pirate ship. Proper gets you killed. And even if it wasn't proper, you do not order around my crew."

"Excuse me? Johnny is my brother."

"He is my crew on my ship. My word is law. And Johnny aside, you had no right to order James around."

#TeaserTuesday "Senona knew she could kill Richard if she had to..." 'Heart Like an Ocean' #HistRom

Here's a short little teaser from Chapter 6 of Heart Like an Ocean. Enjoy :) HeartLikeAnOcean-CoverHer hand wandered to the right, touching the cold, reassuring metal of the pistol. Would she have to use it? She hoped not. Senona knew she could kill Richard if she had to, but she was afraid. She had killed men on the raids, and Brant knew if needed she would defend herself, but killing made her sick, and guns were so messy and loud. Senona viewed them as a cowardly weapon, an easy way out. They made killing too detached and easy; it disturbed her. She hoped she would never find herself in a position where she had to use one.

#TeaserTuesday: 'Heart Like an Ocean' "By order of his majesty, stand down!" #Historical #Romance

HeartLikeAnOcean-Cover Just a short little teaser this week. I hope you enjoy it :)

"By order of his majesty, stand down!" came the loud booming voice of the commanding officer.

Everything seemed to halt instantly. His voice held a commanding presence and everyone felt inclined to listen to him. Senona found Brant and nodded; they couldn’t win this fight with swords. She dropped her sword, and slowly the rest of the crew followed suit when they saw no argument from their Captain.

Caton gripped Senona's hand and she squeezed it reassuringly. "This isn't good," he whispered.

"Never said it was."

"If Brant gets taken away..." Caton started but couldn't finish his sentence.

"He's a dead man. That's why we won't let it happen."

#TeaserTuesday 'Heart Like an Ocean' "Was he having doubts already?" #Historical #Romance

Senona smiled softly. Could it be so simple? Was he having doubts already? "I've missed you too. Sam is a good friend, but it's just not the same. And now he's with Julie..." she trailed off. "But if you had to be so cautious around Catherine, why are you going to marry her?" Brant looked taken aback. "Because I... Well... She proposed to me."

It was Senona's turn to be surprised, but she covered it well and kept working at Brant's doubt, chipping away inch by inch at his protective shell until he was open to a final attack. "You never answered my question-- why?"

Brant looked off into the distance as he thought of the answer. "I really don't know. When you really think about it, it doesn't really make sense. I love her, but we're so different. It makes me wonder if love is enough."
