One of my favorite things about living where I do, and how I do, is evening horse chores. Especially in the winter when it gets dark around 4:30. There is something about the crunch of snow underfoot, the nicker of horses in greeting, the fact that the entire world is turned off, and the only thing that matters is me and my horses. It’s serenity. It’s the smell of hay filling a world that is crisp, clean, and sterile. It’s that time of day when everything melts away and I’m left with absolute and complete calm.
