Week 2 of #NaNoWriMo

Well, this update is a little late seeing as week 2 ended on Friday, but better late than never. I'm finding myself a little surprised by this year's NaNoWriMo and I guess that just goes to show that when it comes to a month long writing marathon no two years are the same. Last year NaNo was a piece of cake for me. I kicked the 50k word count's butt by nearly 20,000 words. So, I expected this year to go quite similarly. So far that has not been the case.

Week 1 was full of ups and downs, as you know from my post last week. Week 2.... was also full of ups and downs. I've had both good and bad writing days and every time I pull ahead, I fall behind shortly thereafter.

This year has reminded me a lot of my 2010 NaNoWriMo. That was the first year I won, and the second year I participated. That win was definitely hard won and very satisfying. I had thought a month of struggles was behind me though after such a fantastic year last year. Oh well, just gotta press forward and keep my eye on that 50k.

As of right now I'm sitting behind but I have a feeling I have a good writing day or two ahead of me.

How is everyone else doing? Are you finding this year challenging or easy? Setting your goals higher or lower than 50k?

I write historical and contemporary romance that is mixed with a little adventure. Stop by and say hey on FacebookTwitter or Email me at kcsteendam(at)gmail(dot)com. I’d love to hear from you.
