Week 1 of #NaNoWriMo is complete

Wow, what a week of ups and downs for NaNoWriMo. I started out good at 2,000 words a day despite recovering from having all 4 wisdom teeth pulled on Oct 31st... and then everything went downhill from there. My goal was originally to write 70-80,000 words this month. I am now down to the normal 50,000 because that's more than enough--I do have an actual life outside of writing...sometimes.

I hit writer's block. I hit exhaustion (stupid pain killers). I basically hit every road block NaNo has. And then yesterday things started looking up. FINALLY.

I wrote nearly 4,000 words and am ahead of the game. And although I've hit my "mojo" so to speak, I'm not upping my goal again. I've decided to stick with the 50,000 word goal and if I happen to do better than that it's just a bonus. (What's that, Andrew? I made a challenge to you for 60k? Oh... right... that... It's not over till it's over).

How's everyone else's NaNoWriMo going so far? Is this the first you're hearing about it? Maybe you're thinking of joining in next year or for Camp NaNoWriMo? Let me know :)

I write historical and contemporary romance that is mixed with a little adventure. Stop by and say hey on FacebookTwitter or Email me at kcsteendam(at)gmail(dot)com. I’d love to hear from you.
