Today is the first day of NaNoWriMo; short for National Novel Writing Month. I look forward to this event every single year. I get to meet new people, both published and aspiring authors, and get to spend a month of writing abandon. For me to say this is my favorite time of year is probably pretty accurate. I'm just about to start placing the first of what will be 50-80,000 words onto a blank word document. Although the goal for NaNo is to reach 50,000 words in 30 days, I like to push myself a little harder each year. Last year I reached nearly 70,000 words.
This year I'll be tackling the third and final book in my Ocean series. I'm coming into this month a little... hesitant because I'm not quite sure I'm ready to say goodbye to the characters I've spent the last 6-7 years with. But, sometimes you have to say goodbye and November 1, 2013 is the start to that goodbye.
I'm going to be chronicling my NaNoWriMo journey here for the next month. Talk a little about what I'm writing, how it's going, and maybe share some fun stories, personal lows or highs and, of course, excerpts.
Are you joining me on the NaNoWriMo adventure? If so feel free to add me as a writing buddy on the website. My username is chrissyln13.
Are you excited? Nervous? First time that you've heard of this event? Let me know :)
