Writing Update (and more of what's to come)

Well, I had a post in my head and it disappeared. Next week I'll be writing a review on another 5 Prince Publishing book but this week will just be a bit of an update and some thoughts. Canadian Thanksgiving has just passed and life has gone back to normal, sort of. How much back to normal can it get when my life has changed from aspiring author to author? Not a whole lot. I still can't quite believe it myself. I don't really know what to say or do when people ask me for tips. I'm not anyone special. I'm just a person, who wrote a story, and just happened to find someone who wanted it. So here's my one tip: Work hard and don't give up.

Anyway, Thanksgiving. My mom and I used to spend every Thanksgiving Monday on a trail ride while my dad cooked dinner but last year I wasn't allowed to go because I was pregnant and this year my family took off to the states for some shopping. However, I am not quite willing to let that tradition go so on Saturday I saddled up my horse and went for a ride on my own. Yes, it wasn't Monday and my mom wasn't with me. But it was the right weekend and I was on a horse. So it counts. I hope that everyone else had an enjoyable Thanksgiving and very full bellies (I know Jasper enjoyed his first turkey dinner). Mine wasn't quite what it usually is but it was good nonetheless.

Editing on Heart Like An Ocean will be starting this week or next. I'm looking forward to delving into the lives of Senona and Brant again. After so many years of writing and perfecting their story it's a sad thought to think they'll be shelved, and then I realize they won't be, their stories will just be continued in the minds of readers. Lame, I know.

The Contemporary Western Romance is in full swing. You can see my progress on it on the side bar. I update the progress bar after every writing session so it is very up to date.  I'm writing about a thousand words a day most days, which I'm very pleased with. My goal is to be finished the first draft by February. Also, I will now be referring to this book as Unforgiving Plains and not The Contemporary Western Romance... Cause that's just a mouthful.

I'm hoping to put some fun things together to get you excited about Heart Like An Ocean. Maybe some Character profiles or back stories that aren't a part of the book. I'm going to insert a poll below and if you guys can just vote for what kinds of things you'd like to see that would be helpful... otherwise I'll just do what I feel like doing :P  And yes, book excerpts will come. But not yet.

I've been working on revamping the blog a bit. The layout has changed and I've added easy follow buttons for facebook, twitter and the blog itself. As well as a countdown to the release of Heart. The date I threw in there will probably change so right now it's counting down to the end of February but when I have an exact date that will be updated. Also, the progress bar for Heart will be changed from word count to chapter count and you can see how close we are to getting the editing done.

Oh, and I almost forgot: I've decided to take part in NaNoWriMo this year. For those of you that don't know what that is; it's National Novel Writing Month which takes place in November. I have 30 days to write a 50,000 word first draft. I cannot start it before November first. I can prepare by brainstorming and outlining but no actual writing can be done before hand. I've decided to attempt a Science Fiction novel this year and I plan on writing a post on the prepping for that as well as updates throughout November. This would be the third year I take part, and hopefully the second time I succeed.

Anyway, that's it for my writing life. Please leave comments and feedback, I love to hear from you. Also, don't forget the poll... and if you have ideas that are not a part of the poll I'd love to hear them.
